WPA Records. The University of Miami served as a sponsor for the
Rare Books Project in the Spring of 1940. As a sponsor, the University
agreed to provide access to books, office space, and supplies to enable
a group of W.P.A. workers to make copies, first in long-hand, and then
type the complete text of rare Florida books. In return for its
cooperation, the University of Miami received six bound manuscripts of
rare Florida books for its library collection.
