Course Description
This course will introduce you to the research and writing methods utilized and debated by historians. The readings, discussions, and presentations cover topics of importance to professional historians in all fields, including basic and advanced research tools, the development of historical thinking (ancient to modern), and recent developments in historical research (e.g., influences from the fields of statistics and anthropology). Although the topic of postmodernism will be introduced, that will be covered in detail by the course that follows this one, “Approaches to History.”
