Letters to the Editor
I hope that you enjoyed the second issue of TANKS! e-Magazine. One thing more. Please take a moment and recommend this publication to a friend. The icon is on the title page.
All my best to each of you!
Bill
What a great magazine!!!! I thought your old newsletter was good but this is too good for words. Looking forward to your next.yours.
Armoured Michael
Thanks Michael,
I will take that as a compliment to all who worked hard on the first issue!
Nice work -- however, the title page is nearly impossible to read
since your background's greyscale picture and your text is red :) Just a suggestion. Check
out http://www.fsaf.com.courier to see how I did an old newsletter.
Andy :)
Yeah.... I know... My wife dinged me over it. I will improve it next time. Lets face it, I am no graphic artist.
Dear Bill,
I thought about contributing an article or three to the Tanks! e-zine, but as Im kind of
paranoic :-) , I thought Id better as a question first:
Does contributing an article make it the property of Tanks!??
You see, Id like to contribute an article or three (depends on if its going to be one
large one, or three smaller) on the armoured formations of the Yugoslav Partisans, but Ive
had a few of my contributors make me promise to not just spew their work around, in fact
keep it on my site. I dont hope Im implying any sort of evil intent on your part. If so,
its not intended.
Yours
Henrik
Actually, the correct answer is... may TANKS! please use your article until you say no? In no way do I wish to own anything belonging rightfully to you. I simply ask to borrow it until you ask (if ever) for it's return. The only way I could see that happening is if I dissappointed you somehow or we became unfriendly (what an awful thought!). If you wish to publish the article and another magazine demands that it have sole ownership, I will be happy to not post your article anymore or whatever it takes to make you happy. I, myself have been "ripped off" in the past by companies that I have worked for - never to see even a simple thanks. I do not intend to do unto others that which I would not like done to myself!
Hello, dear friends!
Our historical military club is trying to make a replica of historical armoured car Sd.Kfz 222 of German Army from The Second World War times.
We would like to know where or in which European museum is the origin of this car, as the case may be a drawing documentation.
If you have anything what can help us, send us some information to the e-mail enclosed bellow, please.
Sincerely
Radek Balcarek - Town Guard of Hradec Kralove`s Commander
Would any of you have information that could help this fellow out?

I thought to include this interesting photo of a Churchill Mk.VII by Steven Guy. What I wanted to share with you is just how thick the armor on these monsters was. Take a look at the hand in the photo, the open door, and the metal surrounding the hand. Now, if you think for a moment you can "rap" on this metal with your knuckles and hear a hollow sound, forget it. All you will hear is your bones and a smack of skin. As tough as this armor was, it was not undefeatable. A tanker lived in constant worry of the anti-tank gun and like weapons. It was when the hunter became the hunted. |
I am a Mexican military modeler since 1973, I am intersted in armour. My main subjets
are German, Israeli and modern AFV.
In this last years, i have been intersted in small countrys armour. for example, I
am looking information about Ethiopian M-41 or Iran- Iraq wars armor.
I hope you can help me to find information of this subjets.
Best regards from Mexico City.

I do not keep up on items past 1946, however, there are some readers that may be able to give a hand.
I agree with your statement of
the condition's at A. P. G. but we all know Uncle Sam don't we.
I was there in 1994 to see there collection and have photo's of almost every item in the
outdoor collection.
Fort Knox as you know has a very nice collection as well. What most people are unaware of
is what is sitting in motor pool's and warehouses all over post.
I was cadre for ROTC basic camp at Fort Knox summer of 98 and lucky me I had to do family
briefings in the Patton Museum twice a week for 4 weeks, so was able to see behind the
scenes. I made contact with the curator of the Patton Museum and had about 30 min. in each
of those warehouses, unbelievable! Some vehicles in mint condition some in very, very bad
shape.
They claim no space, no fund's and no volunteers.
Maybe someday things will change, I don't think it will.

It is my hope that anyone interested can help this museum by simply writing our lawmakers at the capitol. Afterall, they spend our money on thinks like butterfly and tricycle studies. Remember "the squeaky wheel gets the grease". Now that we have a president that will be more willing to spend money on the military, perhaps we may see some changes.
Do you have any technical info on controlled differential, epicyclic steering in WWII
german tanks any help would be greatly appreciated!
pz
No Pz, I do not (yet). TANKS! does is not yet ready to do German tanks and therefore, the data has not yet been collected in any meaningful order. Perhaps a reader has this data handy and can help you.
Help!
I need information on the American M55-1 Holt Gun Tractor of WW I. Also, any information on the rest of the gun tractors produced during that era, besides what you have on your site. I know some were actually field tested in France, but I not know which ones.
My father has a copy of Vol. 2. Pictorial
History of the Second World War, and would like to have any other volumes that exist.
I wondered if you know where I could locate copies of these books for him.
Thanks.

In fact, I just may know were a few volumes are but I do not believe it is a complete set (I happen to own 3 of the volumes myself). I will get you the name of the used bookstore. Can anyone else out there assist here too?.
Send the editor some feedback!
Oh yes... before you ask, here is a sneak preview of the Spring Issue and an idea of what type of articles I am looking for.
