Following independence from Spain in 1816, Argentina experienced periods of internal political conflict between conservatives and liberals and between civilian and military factions. After World War II, a long period of Peronist dictatorship was followed by a military junta that took power in 1976. Democracy returned in 1983, and four free elections since then have underscored Argentina's progress in democratic consolidation. - US CIA World Factbook

Argentine Steel Helmet

I received these photos from a collector, Victor Almeida, who actually owns a steel helmet from Argentina. He was kind enough to allow these photos to be posted on this site. Notice that the helmet may appear like a German design from a distance, but examined closely you will see it is nothing of the sort. The helmet is based on a Swiss design.
