TANKS! bears these awards with pride when wearing full dress.

1976 E5 - Staff Sergeant - My highest rank. This I achieved at 4 years of active duty. Back then, the Air Force average was over 7 years to earn this rank. 1982
The Air Force Commendation Medal - with Oak Leaf Cluster. Twice awarded for meritorious service. You don't get this for just coming to work everyday! I believe this is the 2nd highest award you can receive in peacetime and the highest for a junior NCO. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award - with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters - I was based at 4 locations that earned this award.
The Air Force Good Conduct Medal - With one Oak Leaf Cluster - Twice awarded. Enlisted personnel can earn this award if they are good boys or girls.

Air Force Long Tour Overseas Duty Ribbon - I was based in England for 3 years.

Air Force Professional Military Education Ribbon - I applied for and was accepted for training at NCO Leadership School at RAF Wethersfield. I graduated 17th in my class of 100.
Air Force Longevity Ribbon - Awarded every 4 years of service. As you can see, I served more than 4 but less than 8 years.

Air Force Small Arms Expert Ribbon - For marksmanship. The ribbon is for the M16 rifle. I earned the star for the 38cal pistol.

Air Force Initial Training Ribbon - Ok, I graduated basic training! Before you laugh, out of 50 guys that started, only 38 of us finished!

The TANKS! award

Given to sites for their contribution to the recording of history.
Those of you who received it, consider yourselves as...
ONE OF THE FEW!

The reason for this application is (lets face it) I cannot be everywhere! As much as I would love to visit your site, I probably haven't had the time or knowledge of it's location. And so...

Award criteria

1. Accurate historical content.

2. The site must not be racist or have hate content.

3. An ongoing, active involvement in the improvement and expansion of your site (not pages that say last updated 20 years ago or I will get around to updating them someday next year - maybe).

4. The site must be geared toward family viewing. Offensive or graphic history pages that show violence must be properly marked.

5. The site must be receive 5 positive votes from the award recipients of TANKS!

6. The site (a single page about a historical subject in a multi-content site is ok) must be history related.

7. The site must be easy to navigate. You will not be judged on how "pretty" the site is or on slick "gee wiz" features, but lets face it, a site that is "ugly to the bone" and shocks you to death with ShockWave ain't gonna help.

8. Your site must be in English. English is the international internet language. Your page must be universal.

9. Please do not submit a collection of links. You will be rejected immediately.

To apply (don't be shy):

Send an email with your site's address. All sites will be checked fairly and quickly.

Award recipients are noted on the bottom of each page of this site for their contributions or their placement on the Links page if they own a site.

The following list of sites are award recipients that are not military in nature and, as thus, not added to the Award Links pages.
