Have you ever noticed the condition of the armor located at the museum at Aberdeen Proving Grounds? I find it appalling that in the richest nation on earth, we have such a terrible museum. No, it is not a museum, it is a junkyard. The tanks are ill cared for, poorly represented, and in generally good to fair condition. That is just what is shown to the public, I understand many have simply wasted away over the years and are towed out of sight - to be cut up for scrap. The time has come for action. Here is what they say on their web site:
The Museum Needs Your Support
"The museum has suffered from years of physical and budgetary neglect. Routinely, the museum is not allocated any funds for restoration and preservation of these national treasures. With few exceptions, most of the 260 large artifacts have been displayed outdoors almost continuously for 30 or more years, and in some cases, since the First World War. These artifacts show the fury that Mother Nature can inflict when left unchecked. From the effects of the elements and neglect, some artifacts have disintegrated."
Fortunately, our internet provides a quick solution. Simply send a polite, but clearly stated email to each (I used the "cc" function on my email so as not to type more than one letter) of the address below. By the way, if you stand with this site, please copy and display the "Gray Ribbon" on yours.
Don't take my word for it, Here is the address of the site: http://www.ordmusfound.org/
The email address of your congressman (if you are from another nation, just pick anyone).
The email address of the President of the United States (he is the Commander in Chief after all).
The email address of me!
By the way - do not be afraid to write America's political leaders above. Remember, they put on a pair of pants just like you do. America is not a 3rd world nation where it's leaders are approached with fear. Americans do not bow to them nor should they expect any better treatment than ordinary citizens. If you do not write them, nothing will ever be done to correct this situation. In America, the "squeaky wheel gets the grease". And a final thought if you are living in another nation, if no action or care is taken here, it is entirely possible that some of your leaders may use our museum as an argument to cut the budgets of your museums.
Lastly, if you want, tell them you learned about this on TANKS!
