| Announcing the 1999 Team Winners Kitty Stone edged Donoho to take top honors at ESO 1999 at Jacksonville High School in February. Oxford Middle took third, White Plains fourth, and Wellborn 5th as Calhoun County teams swept the team trophy honors. The Big Bucks Gold medalist Charlsie Wigley of Donoho went home $50 richer on ESO Saturday. Wigley was the winner of the Gold Medal Drawing of 70 first place winners. Over 20 action transfers and 5 forms of energy propelled Kitty Stone Elementary into first place in the inaugural year of Mission Possible. The Rube Goldberg contraption completed its 2-minute chain reaction task by raising a flag and starting a tape with the students' singing of the national anthem. New Teams Make a Big Impact Congrats to all of ESO 1999's first-year teams. Leeds Elementary walked away with 6th place in its first trip to Jacksonville including gold medal honors in Categories. Faith Christian took first in Crash Landing in its first appearance in the Olympiad. Thompson Elementary netted top honors with some master meteorology skills in Weather or Not. Sylacauga's Mountainview perfected science word searching with a gold in Boggle Science. |
