Personal Eulogies for Fox Wright

From a Special Friend...

I watched a funeral on T.V. recently and the Preacher man said, "We all have a Birthdate and a Deathdate with a dash in between them. It's what you do with your dash that counts."

When I think of my friend Fox, I think of a man who never met a stranger. If you were a woman, it was "Hello, Beautiful! How are you?" If you were a man, you were an "Amigo." He always had a hug-handshake and an encouraging word for everyone.

He took me to lunch, loaned me money when I was down more times than I can count, and he always told me Wise Old Chief parables most of which are better kept out of church and just between men.

I will miss my friend, but I am grateful to have known him. I will try to improve upon my dash as I know he would want. I'm sure when his Spirit arrived in Heaven St. Peter hugged his neck, and said, "Welcome home, Amigo, and Congratulations on a job well done!" I love ya, Fox. See you when my work is done.

From another Special Friend...

You lived part of your life drinking
But you left us clean and sober.
I remember the very first time
You laid your hand upon my shoulder
And gave me encouraging words
That I'll always hold dear.
Even though your body left us
Your Spirit remains near
Engraved in our hearts
Until one day we meet again.
Rest in Peace, Fox.
So long, My Friend.

From DL, the Last Wife...

Fox was an incredible creature, indeed. His gift to anyone who had contact with him was that he made people feel good -- about themselves. His love for people, ALL people, was genuine. It was pure, unconditional love.

He became this lover of humankind. He had some very rough years in his life, times that were not peaceful, times where he had to fight his greatest enemy - himself. But he was given a gift from The Great Chief, and came back to Life and generously shared that life with all who knew him. He gave people hope when they had none. He helped people to find the Peace within themselves. He felt people's pain, and offered them some relief.

I'll never forget the Chinese fortune cookie that said, "With youth and beauty, wisdom is rare." His comment was, "Who needs wisdom when you've got youth and beauty?" He said that wisdom is life's consolation prize. He was a wise older fox, but he never lost his beauty.

Fox was fun. He had a great sense of humor, a keen wit, and he loved to laugh. His smile was infectious, and his style unique.

Fox was such a healthy guy. He took care of himself. He never smoked. He quit drinking. He walked. He ate right. He took all kinds of nutritional supplements. His medical doctors were just as shocked as the rest of us from the Stage 4 Lung Cancer diagnosis. How could this be? He loved living, and did not want to die. But The Great Chief had other plans, and we will never understand. His death was swift, and from the heart -- heart failure caused by the tumor. Although it was a shock to all of us, it was a gift for Fox.

I feel sure that he will Rest in Peace. He Lived in Peace the last decade of his life. He shared that Peace with ALL of us. We humbly give thanks to The Great Chief for the lessons in living that we learned from Fox.
