From the label game, we learned these guidelines for effective interpersonal communication:
Stereotypes, preconcieved ideas, judgements, values and experiences become filters that can negatively impact our relationships. This can addressed by listening more talking less and remaining open to the "real" person.
Treat others as they would like to be treated.
Treat others as they should be treated.
Treat others as you would like them to be treated.
Be honest with your communication. Don't convey the wrong message to the person you may be confronting.
Don't cast/stereotype people into roles. Get to know them and help them achieve their goals and needs.
Before prejudging people it is important to get to know them for yourself. Don't base assumptions of people on what you hear from others. Keep an open mind when you meet people for the first time.
Avoid or try not to form an opinion until you know facts of person.
Beware of people steering you on their perception or your personality.
Preconcieved ideas (assumptions) distort the reception of valuable information
[Stereotyping acts as a filter].
From the BARNGA game, we learned these things:
Be obsevant of the group and follow the group rule.
Once conflict is resolved communicate the rules.
Communication rules are shaped by the participants.
Organizational communication is shaped partially by the organization
and partially by the participants.
No single form of communication network is practiced in an organization.
Formal rules, policies, and proceedures set up some expected ways of communicating,
but participants shape it to make it work for situations - so it changes.
The rules of the game are different from organization to organization
but also from division to division, department to department, unit to unit,
and team to team.
Rules of the game are influenced by the participants. Sometimes
dominant personalities or competitive personalities can change the rules.
Rules of the game are difficult to understand or to spot. Subtlties
exist that are not easy to avail yourselves of.
Communication patterns are shaped by Attitudes, Values, and Beliefs
of the participants.
Culture is a collection of Attitudes, Values, and Beliefs of the participants.
Hence, Communication is culture and culture is communication.
When new members enter your culture, let em in on the rules. And let
them influence them.
Certain aspects of a manager's view (leadership, personality, assumptions,
concern for task or people, etc.) create presures which give rise to certain
communication network patterns.

We looked at the internet as a tool for communication. Some of
the possibilities we talked about probably opened our eyes. I wanted
to share with you some of the bookmarks that I found while preparing for
