Expectations
Attendance:  Students are expected to attend all sessions of the course, especially because many of the class meetings are experiential.  Students earn points for attendance (see grading criteria).  Legitimate absences may be made up at the discretion of the instructor.
Participation:  Professionally motivated and positive contributions to large and small group discussions and activities are expected.  All should help establish a spirit of inquiry, openness and respect in the class.  Individual grades will be awarded only on completion of all assignments.
Relevance:  Participants should attempt at all times to relate the course activities and insights to the classroom, and should be prepared to share with others.
Concerns:  If students have concerns about any aspect of the course, they are encouraged to raise them with the instructor.  A midterm evaluation opportunity will also be provided.

Sexual harrassment
University policy states that employees and students neither commit nor condone sexual harrassment in any form.

Religious holidays
Students will be excused to observe holidays pertaining to their respective religious faiths.  As a courtesy to the course instructor, the student should report absence for this purpose in advance.

 Special needs
Students having special needs for seating or other accommodations should register with the Student Disability Resource Center, and bring a letter to the instructor indicating the need for academic accomodations by the second class meeting.  Every effort will be made to address student needs in an appropriate manner.

Academic honor code
Students are expected to uphold the Academic Honor Code published in the Florida State Bulletin and the Student Handbook.  The system is based on the premise that each student has the responsibility to uphold the highest standards of integrity in the students own work, to refuse to tolerate violations of academic integrity in the Univesity community, and to foster a high sense of integrity and personal responsibility in that community.

Grade review and other concerns
If a student has a concern about a grade s/he should first raise the issue with the course instructor before going to other levels.  For grade review one should comply with procedures in the Graduate Bulletin.

Grading criteria
Grades will be awarded on accumulation of points up to 110.  Extra credit will be given at the discretion of the professor.
     Attendance, on-time arrival = 10; Homework = 35 (1 @ 5 pts.; 3 @ 10 pts.); Quizzes = 35 (1 @ 15; 1 @ 20); Lesson plan = 20; Presentation = 10.
