You Drew Inside My Lines
By Lindsey Rodan

you draw inside my lines.
when you can anticipate
you estimate my touch.
procrastinate.
deviate from what you said to me.

you made me feel your sincerity

your grip seized my life by the throat,
stroked it twice for comfort,
held my gaze and sighed;
dropped me to the ground.

my perspectives you lowered
your true self i see
i feel the pain you hide from me

i beg you.

leave me on the shelf.
drag you fingers through my hair
one last time before you go
because now you know.

we are a pair
to be alone.
