BPS NEW FACULTY CONSORTIUM
The Business
Policy and Strategy Division will sponsor a New Faculty Consortium
during the pre-conference period of the 2008 Academy of Management
Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California. The objective of the consortium
is to enhance the scholarship, teaching, and overall career development
of faculty in the early stages of their career. The
consortium provides an excellent forum for exchanging ideas and tips
concerning teaching and research as well as for expanding
one’s academic network. The New Faculty Consortium will be
held on Saturday, 9 August from 8:30AM to 5:00PM and on Sunday 10
August from 8:30AM to noon.
Last summer’s New Faculty Consortium, which was chaired by Melissa Schilling (NYU) and Peter Zemsky (INSEAD), drew over 40 participants as well as eight faculty panelists. The Co-Chairs for the 2008 consortium are Peter Roberts (Emory) and Peter Zemsky (INSEAD). The faculty facilitators include: Gautam Ahuja (Michigan), John de Figueiredo (UCLA), Pierre Dussauge (HEC), Peter Murmann (Australian GSM), Nandini Rajagopalan (USC), Nicolaj Siggelkow (Wharton) and Freek Vermeulen (LBS). There will be an editor’s panel with representatives from leading strategy and management journals including AMJ, AMR, Management Science, Organizational Science and SMJ. To qualify participants must have completed their dissertation by September 2007 and are typically in the first through the third year of their academic career, or have recently moved into the Strategic Management/Business Policy field. In addition, a participant should have a record of commitment to teaching and research in the Strategy/Business Policy field and not have participated in prior BPS New Faculty Consortia. Those interested in participating should apply no later than 15 May, 2008 by submitting the following items: 1) a current CV, 2) a statement of teaching and research interests (one page maximum in total), and 3) a letter from the applicant’s Dean or Department Chair nominating the applicant to represent their school at the New Faculty Consortium. Applications should be sent to: Peter Zemsky
INSEAD Boulevard de Constance 77305 Fontainebleau Cedex, FRANCE peter.zemsky@insead.edu Electronic applications via email are preferred, but hard copy applications are also acceptable. Any questions concerning the consortium may be addressed to Peter Zemsky at peter.zemsky@insead.edu. Participants will be notified of their selection by June 5, 2008. |
