At approximately 4:15 a.m., July 12, 1996, Cato "Poopsy-Bear" McNair died of complications due to renal insufficiency. He is survived by his adoptive parents, John and Sandy McNair, and by his adopted brother, Linus "Pippy" McNair.
The inspiration for Cato's name came from the Pink Panther movie series. Cato was the name of Inspector Clouseau's servant who always dressed in black and attacked without warning. The Inspector, his servant and car were also a spoof of THE GREEN HORNET
