Research Collaborations

Dr. Burnett was trained as a historian, and at the beginning of her career tended to conduct research individually. As a consequence, she was sole author of most of her early work. As she moved from history to social informatics, she became increasingly engaged in collaborative research and publication. Since moving to FSU, she has collaborated with my colleagues Gary Burnett, Eliza T. Dresang, Michelle Kazmer, Paul Marty, Lorri Mon, Besiki Stvilia, and Manimegalai M Subramaniam (adjunct). She has co-authored with former doctoral students who currently hold faculty appointments at other universities, including: Laurie J. Bonnici (Alabama), Paul T. Jaeger (Maryland), Boryung Ju (Lousianna State), Shawne D. Miksa (University of North Texas), and Myoungho Yi (Oklahoma). She also collaborated with Paul T. Jaeger (Maryland), Gary Burnett, and Renee Franklin (Syracuse), and Laurie J. Bonnici (Alabama) on NSF and IMLS grant proposals. Two of these, with Laurie J. Bonnici were funded between 2003-2007. Collaborating with others has afforded opportunities for her to explore interesting and complex research problems that she is not equipped to handle on her own.

Research Affiliations

Dr. Burnett is an affiliate member of I-CELTIC, the Interdisciplinary Center for Leadership, Technology Integration and Critical Literacies. She is also a member of the Social Informatics Research Group, a loosely organized group of researchers at the FSU College of Information. This group submitted a proposal in response to the National Science Foundation's Virtual Organizations as Sociotechnical Systems solicitation in June 2008.
