I am currently a Visiting Lecturer and Ph.D. Candidate at Florida State University in the Department of Geography. I received my M.S. degree in environmental science in 2002 from Lund University in Lund, Sweden. My dissertation research, supervised by Dr. Daniel Klooster, documents how beekeepers in rural Northwest Florida make decisions about the use of forest resources in light of ongoing environmental, social, and land-use changes. My work couples the tools of remote sensing and GIS with qualitative analysis.
Research Interests
My interests are a combination of cultural and economic geography, and are largely grounded in political ecology. Key themes of my research include: human-environment interactions, rural change, globalization and development, and agro-food studies. I am also interested in expanding the opportunities for geo-spatial techniques, specifically remote sensing and GIS, within the field of human geography.
