I
am
a proud student of information science. Once a librarian, I've got my PhD at SCILS, Rutgers
University where I was a member of APLab
(Director: P.B. Kantor). As an educator, my primary goal is to train user-savvy
and technology-savvy librarians who are well versed in both user needs and behaviors,
and cutting-edge web/digital technologies. As a researcher, I trek to understand
how humans search for, find, use, and orgnize information on the Web and in Digital
Libraries(DLs). I believe that DLs of future will empower humans to solve problems
and learn on our own in effective, efficient, and pleasant manners. One of my
research goals is to design innovative user interface of digital libraries (or search engines)
that support users' metacognitive processes and activities.
When I don't teach or conduct research,
I play with my 8-year-old son, "read" cooking books, search for trivia on the Web, or listen to jazz music.
My most wishes to have dinner with are the late Stefan Zweig and Nellie Bly, respectively. My personal goal for 2006 is to rediscover joy in reading for pleasure
(while surviving the tsunami of work-related readings!!!) For more information
on me, check my cv (pdf)
please.
