Course Description
This course offers an introduction to the fundamentals of planning and
urban development. It is designed to
provide students with an understanding of the basic planning and urban
development processes including the forces and actors behind these
processes. The history, structure,
fields and larger questions related to contemporary planning are
discussed. Case studies at the
neighborhood and metropolitan level from developed and developing countries
will be introduced to illustrate discussions.
Students will have the opportunity to design basic strategies for
planning and evaluation of urban development using the tools learned in class.
