Course Description
This course describes the major controversies, cases, and figures in nineteenth-century legal history. The class covers topics from the creation of the Supreme Court and key constitutional themes like vested property rights and migration control to changes in legal education and the legal profession. For a full listing of all the subjects covered by the class, see the syllabus. The course American Legal History I is not a prerequisite for this course.
