The Tallahassee, Florida urban area is located in the "Big Bend" of North Florida, about 25 miles south of the state line of Georgia. The area is about 300,000 people and is a beautiful area with rolling hills, spreading live oaks and other trees, and flowers. It is about 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.
Tallahassee is the state capitol of Florida. Tallahassee With an average adult educational level of four years of college, two state universities, a state community college, and several private colleges, Tallahassee has an active scholastic and cultural life. It has been designated an All-American City and one of the Southeast's three top medium size cities in which to live by Money Magazine.

There is a wide variety of housing, ranging from small rental houses, townhouses, duplexes, and small and large apartment complexes. Large and small grocery stores are plentiful, and restaurants provide a diverse set of offerings from many different cultural groups. Housing and food costs are one of the best bargains for the quality in the United States! There is also a wide range of shopping from "the basics" to boutiques to department and specialty stores.

a thorough Orientation program for new EPLS graduate students, including
a "gift bag" for you with considerable information about the Department,
Florida State University, and Tallahassee. Our EPLS programs (including
Educational Psychology) were ranked in the top 25 in the United States
in 2008 by U.S. News and World Report!
