EDP 5217 Principles of Learner Motivation (3 hours)
DEP 5068 Lifespan Development (3 hours)
SYP 5105 Theories of Social Psychology (3 hours)
EDP 5285 Group Processes  (3 hours)
EDG 6328 Alternate Views of Teaching and Learning (3 hours)
EDG 6363 Practicum in Experimental Learning Research (3 hours)
EXP 5508 Cognition and Perception (3 hours)
EDP 6937 Seminar in Special topics (3 hours)
EXP 6609r Seminar in Higher Mental Processes (3 hours)

Please be alert to our seminars in the EDP 6937 series, such as Motivation and Emotion or Family Support for Learning and Motivation, which will PROBABLY count toward your core courses (please consult with your advisor and the Program Director to be sure.)

EDF 6475 Qualitative Research Methods (3 hours)
EDF 5402 Advanced Topics in Analysis of Variance (3 hours)

EDF 6937r Advanced Methods in Educational Psychology (3 hours)
EDF 6937r Multivariate Analysis of Categorical Data (3 hours)

Please be alert to our seminars in the EDP 6937 series, such as Hierarchical Linear Models, Structural Equation Models or Multivariate Analysis of Categorical Data, which will PROBABLY count toward your research and data analysis courses (please consult with your advisor and the Program Director to be sure.)

PLEASE NOTE: Depending on your prior courses, we may recommend that you take EDF 5400. Descriptive and Inferential Statistics. This is NOT a doctoral course. However, you may need this course in order to do well in the subsequent courses listed above, which DO count toward your doctoral program.


FURTHER PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Disciplinary Specialization/Context Minor – 9 hours

Advanced Courses – 12 hours total

Supervised Research – 6 hours

Supervised Teaching – 3 hours. Students who seek university positions should register for supervised teaching and assist in the teaching of an appropriate course

Preliminary Exam

Dissertation Prospectus and Dissertation - 24 hours (FSU requirement)

Begin supervised research
Pass qualifying review
YEAR TWO
Enroll in advanced courses
Complete disciplinary specialization
Complete preliminary exam
YEAR THREE
Dissertation research
Prepare dissertation prospectus
Conduct and defend dissertation research
