Proposal: This the text of my original Dissertation
Proposal. The
proposal was a broad "plan of action" that laid out a
very general blueprint for the planned research. It was not strictly adhered to as new data sources
became available (and available data sources disappeared) and new ideas were brought into the analysis.
This is evidence that a Dissertation does not turn out to be what it was
originally intended to be.
Magnitude of the
Sports Facility Building Boom: As a
precursor to the neighborhood development aspects of these
projects, I wanted to provide evidence of the sports facility
boom. The magnitude in dollars of this boom surprised even me,
with well over $10 billion to be spent between 1990 and 2002 on
these projects. Of this amount, almost $6 billion will have come
from public coffers.
