Octave

Octave is essentially an open source version of Matlab. (I'm sure the Matlab people would disagree, but who cares.) For those using Windows systems, the GUI Octave page at Windows Installer provides links for installation files for both Octave and a Graphical User Interface for Octave. Do not install the "econometrics" package when prompted, unless you want to rename lots of functions.

Data and Program Files

The following files are self-extracting zip files. Click on the link to download the file. To extract the data files, first change the file extension from .zip to .exe, then select "run" in Windows, or simply type the file name at the DOS prompt.

mls.zip - contains the MLS.DOS data file.
programs.zip - contains various program files.
spector.zip - contains the Octave data file spector.mat.
martins.zip - contains the Octave data file martins.mat.
