History & Mission

International Quarterly no longer exists, but the literary merits of its editors & writers continue. I thank Paula Owens, president of Southwest School of the Arts, San Antonio, Texas, for housing the IQ collection & helping Naomi Shihab Nye, get copies to libraries, classrooms, & students. In time, more of IQ will be available. Former editors, editorial readers & their successes:

GEOFFREY BROCK has major awards for translations, & The New Criterion Poetry Award--WEIGHING LIGHT, 2005, Ivan Dee.

PAUL SHEPHERD, -MORE LIKE NOT RUNNING AWAY Sarabande (2005), won the Mary McCarthy Award. .

FAITH EIDSE &Nina Sichel edited Unrooted Childhoods: Memoirs of Growing Up Global (with Carlos Fuentes, Pat Conroy, Isabel Allende) & and Faith, Voices of the Apalachicola

KIM GARCIA--her book, Madonna Magadalene (poems), Turning Point (Fall 2006). She teaches at Boston College, & also writes & publishes fiction.

MONIFA LOVE's 2nd collection, Dreaming Underground won the Naomi Long Madgett Poetry Award. Her novel is Freedom in the Dismal.

VIRGIL SUAREZ, author of many books of his own fiction & poetry & editor of many anthologies of the work of others.

CHELSEA RATHBURN--her poetry collectionTHE SHIFTING LINE (2005), Evansville Press, won the Richard Wilbur Award.

YVONNE EDWARDS TUCKER is still exhibiting her art widely.

THOMAS HEISE, McGill University faculty. His HORROR VACUI (2005) won the Sarabande Poetry Award.
